Looking To Become The Oldest Aircraft To Circumnavigate The Globe
A team backed by watchmaker Breitling is working to fly a DC-3 around the world, making it the oldest airplane to complete a circumnavigation of the globe.
The nationally-based fleet of aircraft operated by Jet Linx Aviation has surpassed its 100th aircraft under management. Currently, Jet Linx is the third largest aircraft management company (Part 135) in the United States, with 90 aircraft on its FAA certificate and another seven pending imminent addition to its certificate. The Jet Linx fleet of 101 aircraft also includes four that are managed solely for the owner’s use (Part 91).
The State Department has made a determination approving a possible Foreign Military Sale to the Government of India for C-17 transport aircraft. The estimated cost is $366.2 million. The Defense Security Cooperation Agency delivered the required certification notifying Congress of this possible sale.
Telescopes in Hawaii have obtained new images of Jupiter and its Great Red Spot, which will assist the first-ever close-up study of the Great Red Spot, planned for July 10. On that date, NASA's Juno spacecraft will fly directly over the giant planet's most famous feature at an altitude of only about 5,600 miles.
