100th Cadet Earns Private Pilot Certificate Through Cadet Wings

Cadet Chief Master Sgt. Andrew Wilson of the Texas Wing’s David Lee (Tex) Hill Composite Squadron became the 100th cadet to earn his private pilot certificate through CAP’s Cadet Wings program. The Fourth Of July at San Marcos Regional Airport was extra festive for Wilson, 18, who received his certificate following his check ride with an FAA examiner. The achievement comes just days before reporting to the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. “It was a good day,” Wilson said. “I’m excited to have it done, and for what comes next.” He hopes to eventually become a military aviator, with his goals leaning toward flying jets.

Boeing KC-46A Tanker for Japan Completes First Refueling Flight

Boeing Will Deliver Tanker To JASDF This Year

The first KC-46A tanker built for the Japan Air Self-Defense Force (JASDF) recently refueled another KC-46A aircraft in the skies over Washington state. The Japan-bound tanker also successfully received fuel in return. “Refueling with the first Japan KC-46A is an important milestone for the Japan Air Self-Defense Force,” said Jamie Burgess, KC-46 program manager. “KC-46A is the world’s most advanced air refueling aircraft and has already transferred more than 42 million gallons of fuel to other aircraft globally through its boom and drogue systems.”
