Airborne 02.05.18: Reckless Drone Vid, Goulian Wins, Global 7000 FTV

Also: DeLand Sport Aviation Showcase, Kopter, GoJet Airlines, JetBlue Pilots

A video posted to Facebook a few days ago has been receiving a great deal of attention from, first, the Drone community, and now, the rest of the world. If it is as it appears, someone has done something stupid and dangerous and counterproductive to the interests of the unmanned aircraft communities--much less aviation safety, in general. A person, as yet not officially identified, posted what was claimed to be an FPV or ‘First Person View’ drone racer flying

ANN's Daily Aero-Linx (02.05.18)

Aero Linx: International Formula-1 Pylon Air Racing In the early days of airshows the biggest attractions were the air racers. The racers of the day were outperforming the best the military had to offer. Aviation made tremendous strides in the early days of air racing. International Formula One has kept that tradition alive. Established in 1947 as an alternative to the (even then) outrageously expensive unlimited class, Formula One racers have been evolving for almost 70 years. Today, the top racers use NASA technology to reach top speeds approaching 300 mph on the same engine that powers a Cessna 150 to barely 100 mph. Intern

Aero-News: Quote of the Day (02.05.18)

"This email is to inform you that the airport will be closed to all traffic on Tuesday, February 6th from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm (3 hours). The purpose of the closure is to complete the FAA GIS post-construction survey. The FAA requires this survey to be completed in order to ensure that accurate data is obtained and documented for the new runway configuration. Since there will be men and equipment throughout the airfield we ask that any maintenance facility repositioning aircraft coordinate an escort with Airport Operations ahead of time. The NOTAM for the closure will be issued three days prior to February 6th."
