Rescuers Reach Site Where Sukhoi Superjet Went Down

Victims Founds In Remote, Rugged Terrain

Rescue teams found the wreckage of the Sukhoi Superjet that went missing in Indonesia Wednesday after radar contact was lost. All 45 aboard the aircraft are feared dead. Rescue agency spokesman Gagah Prakoso said "So far we haven't found any survivors, but we are still searching."

New Committee Will Represent Airline Travelers

Group’s Focus To Be Improving Customer Service

Airline passengers frustrated by poor customer service may get some relief from a new consumer protection committee formed to advise the Secretary of Transportation. The re-authorization of the FAA in February established a four-seat committee to evaluate existing consumer protection programs and make recommendations on changes. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood will be required to report the committee’s recommendations to Congress by next February.

Rolls-Royce Achieves New Trent 1000 Milestone

Launch Engine For The 787-9 Airliner

The first run of an upgraded version of the Trent 1000 that will be the launch engine for the latest member of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner family, the 787-9 has been completed by Rolls-Royce. The Trent 1000 Package C program will provide 74,000lb thrust for the 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, which is due to enter service with Air New Zealand in 2014.

FAA Slow To Respond To Whistleblower Complaints

Watchdog Agency Says Greater Oversight Needed

A Special Counsel assigned to protect government employees who expose mismanagement or wrongdoing said the FAA has repeatedly dragged its feet in responding to whistleblower complaints about safety problems. Carolyn Lerner detailed seven cases for the White House and Congress in which "paint a picture of an agency with insufficient responsiveness given its critical public safety mission."
