16-Year-Old Honolulu Student Wins 'Paint-the-Plane' Contest

Prize Is A $5000 Scholarship, A Free Trip, And Seeing His Artwork On The Plane

Honolulu high-school student Aaron Nee, 16, is the winner of the Alaska Airlines "Spirit of the Islands" Paint-the-Plane contest. His artwork will adorn a Boeing 737-800 aircraft honoring the unique culture of the Aloha State. As the grand prize winner, Nee will also receive a trip for four to any of the carrier's destinations and a $5,000 scholarship.

FedEx Donates Boeing 727 To CBU Aviation Science Program

Will Be A 'Working Laboratory' For School's Aviation Students

FedEx Express has donated a Boeing 727-200F to California Baptist University for use by its new aviation science program. The cargo jet made its final taxi THursday after landing at the Riverside Municipal Airport. The aircraft will be on permanent display at the airport and will provide a working laboratory for aviation science students.

Flight From Cairns, Australia To Papua New Guinea Had A Stowaway

A 12-foot long scrub python reportedly hitched an unintended ride on a Qantas airplane making a trip from Cairns in Australia's state of Queensland to Papua New Guinea. And while the snake is though to have survived the flight in sub-freezing temperatures at FL300 on the outside of the plane, it was likely destroyed by Papua New Guinea quarantine officials.
