Leonardo introduced its largest-ever Remotely-Piloted Air System (RPAS), the Falco Xplorer, last week at the Paris Air Show. The new drone features a payload capacity of 770 pounds, more than 24 hours flight time and a satellite communications capability for beyond-radio-line-of-sight operations, all within a 1.3 ton maximum take-off weight (MTOW). Students From Madison West High School Placed Second In International Rocketry Challenge At Paris International Air Show

On June 20th and 21st , students from Madison West High School (located in Madison, WI) competed against the best student rocketeers in the world at the International Rocketry Challenge (IRC) and placed second in the closest competition in IRC history. After placing first in the Team America Rocketry Challenge finals on May 18th in Virginia, the Madison West team represented the United States against teams from the United Kingdom, France, and Japan at the Paris International Air Show.

Company Is The Industry Partner On The Janus Mission, Recently Selected As A Part Of NASA's SIMPLEx Program

Lockheed Martin has been selected to design dual small deep space spacecraft to visit near-earth asteroids in a mission called Janus, led by the University of Colorado Boulder. One of NASA's Small Innovative Mission for Planetary Exploration (SIMPLEx) finalists, Janus is designed to fly by two binary asteroids, or asteroids orbiting a common center of mass, to image the system using both visible and infrared cameras. These small satellites will launch in 2022 to reach the asteroid system in 2026.
