It was only a matter of time, Folks, as Garmin makes ready to intro a Pilot Watch... and like the recently intro'd Dynon Portable EFIS, They Call It "D2." Garmin’s aviation-oriented GPS watch features include a 'direct-to' and 'nearest' function, as well as a built-in adjustable altimeter, altitude alerting capabilities, the option to display both local and Zulu/UTC time, and the ability to integrate with (naturally) various other Garmin products like the Pilot, VIRB, and others. Dynon has introduced a second model to the Pocket Panel product line, the true attitude indicators that can be used by ALL pilots. Dynon’s new D2 adds WiFi connectivity to allow flight data to be sent to popular iPad, smart phone, and tablet aviation applications, and has a second screen with a G-Meter. The D2 retails for $1,425, while the original D1 has a new lower price of $1,195. If you are planning to take an FAA knowledge examination, you’ll have to wait until the government shutdown mess has been resolved. The FAA has closed the doors at AFS 630; the Airman Testing Standards branch of its operation. All this... and MORE in today's episode of Airborne!!!
