Jazz Aviation Pathways Program Awards Scholarships

Presents $3,000 Awards To Two Top Aviation Students At Seneca College

Jazz Aviation has announced the winners of its safety and professionalism scholarships at Seneca College's School of Aviation. These scholarships are awarded to top Aviation student pilots through the Jazz Aviation Pathways Program (APP).

"We're proud to support two of Seneca's top students with scholarships that reward their commitment to safety and professionalism," said Steve Linthwaite, Vice President, Flight Operations, Jazz.

Jazz was pleased to present the inaugural Jazz Aviation Pathway Award for Professionalism and the Jazz Aviation Pathway Award for Professionalism and Diversity to Seneca's most-deserving Aviation students.

The Jazz Aviation Pathway Award for Professionalism. Awarded to a full-time student in his or her final year of the Bachelor of Aviation Technology program for outstanding contributions to safety, leadership and professionalism. The Award consists of a $3000 scholarship. The recipient was selected by the Seneca program chair or designate in consultation with Jazz to ensure the criteria as outlined were respected. On June 2, 2016, Jazz presented the inaugural Aviation Pathway Award for Professionalism at Seneca College to Philippe Gagné from Peterborough, ON.

The Jazz Aviation Pathway Award for Professionalism and Diversity. Awarded to a full-time student in his or her final year of the Bachelor of Aviation Technology program who has self-identified as Aboriginal, a person with a disability, a visible minority, or female; for outstanding contributions to safety, leadership and professionalism. The Award consists of a $3000 scholarship. The recipient was selected by the Seneca program chair or designate in consultation with Jazz to ensure the criteria as outlined were respected. On June 2, 2016, Jazz presented the inaugural Aviation Pathway Award for Professionalism and Diversity at Seneca College to Claire Orban from Ottawa, ON.

"The faculty and staff at the Seneca School of Aviation are very proud of Philippe and Claire's accomplishments during their time as students," said Lynne McMullen, Director of Business Development, Seneca School of Aviation. "We are grateful to Jazz for their continued commitment to empower Seneca students through both financial aid and experiential learning opportunities."

Since 2007 Jazz has been actively involved in shaping the curriculum and training of Canada's future professional pilots through active engagement with aviation colleges and universities. In 2015, Jazz rebranded these efforts under the Jazz Aviation Pathways Program banner. To-date, Jazz has announced agreements between the Jazz APP and the following aviation colleges and universities: Algonquin College, Confederation College, Mount Royal University, Sault College, Seneca College and Western University.
