Hawker 4000 Bizjets Gain Nav System, Data Link STC

Honeywell's Primus Brings New Tools and Niceties for Hawker Operators

Hawker 4000 business jet operators have a new installation on the table, now that the FAA has granted an STC for Honeywell's Primus Epic integrated cockpit suite.

The STC gives operators access to some pretty nifty, futuristic gear, with the Epic cockpit featuring the company's Future Air Navigation System (FANS) and Protected Mode Controller Pilot Data Link Communication (PM-CPDLC) systems in addition to the usual host of automation and QoL enhancements. Those in the flight deck should appreciate the improved comms with ATC, too, since they can now enjoy the same Data Link capabilities the heavies do.

The addition of FANS 1/A+ and PM-CPDLC further eases operations with easier route loading, allowing for FMS programming quicker than old-school systems requiring everything to be hand-punched. It supports trajectory-based operations, FAA Next Gen Data Com, prioritized departure clearances, and improved re-routing around severe weather events and congestion. That last one is going to make it a nice buy for the folks in the back, in any case - nobody springs for Hawker money if they're fine waiting in traffic.

The new STC can be obtained through the parent company itself, Textron Aviation. That will add a little cost compared to a smaller 3rd party operator, but it guarantees a level of fit, finish and resale only an OEM can provide.Textron notes that they're the factory-direct go-to for Beechcraft, Cessna, and Hawker operators, with a support fleet that would be near impossible to top. 24/7 "1Call" aircraft on ground support is always appreciated in a pinch (until the accounting dept. sees the bill!), with pretty thorough global coverage.

"The new cockpit technology upgrade for Hawker 4000 business jets reduces pilot workload and offers improved efficiency," said Brian Rohloff, senior vice president, Customer Support. "Our team is committed to supporting customers throughout their ownership experience and we made this option available through our global service network based on their feedback."
