French Air Traffic Controllers Set To Strike Over The Weekend

May Cause Domestic And International Flight Cancellations

Air traffic controllers in France are set to strike over the weekend, which may lead to the cancellation of domestic and international flights to and from French airports.

Buying Business Travel reports that the strike is planned for June 3-5. And Air France pilots have voted to strike later in the month.

The strikes are reportedly due to a change in French labor laws that will give employers greater latitude in adjusting pay and increasing the work week from 35 hours to 46. It would also make it easier for employers to fire workers during an economic downturn.

French President Francois Hollande is reportedly refusing to back down in the face of demands by the CGT union, which has warned of additional labor actions unless the government scraps the changes.

A French "National Day of Action" is planned for June 14, when the French Senate is scheduled to consider the bill.
