Family Of Jenni Rivera, Others Each Seek $30 Million

Singer Was Among Seven Fatally Injured In Accident Four Years Ago

An attorney representing the family of singer Jenni Rivera said he is seeking awards of $30 million for each of the families of those aboard a Learjet 25 that went down four years ago with the singer and six other people on board, including two pilots.

The suit was filed against Starwood Management, which operated the airplane. It went down while traveling to Toluca, Mexico for an appearance by Rivera on "La Voz Mexico." The Latin Times reports that attorney Vance Owen said he has asked a judge to grant $30 million for each of the claimants, for a total of $210 million. Owen appeared on Univision's "El Gordo y La Flaca" program following a lengthy hearing in a California Court.

Starwood Management owned the 1969 Learjet.

Mexican authorities closed the investigation into the accident after two years, stating that the results had been "inconclusive and that they were unable to determine the exact cause of the crash."

The accident fatally injured Rivera, her attorney, publicist, makeup artist, hair stylist, and the two pilots on board the aircraft.
