CAF Names 2024 Hall of Fame Inductees

Comprising some 13,000 members across more than seventy units, the Commemorative Air Force (CAF), formerly the Confederate Air Force, is a Dallas, Texas-based non-profit dedicated to the preservation and display of historical aircraft. West Star Aviation Breaks Ground on ALN Expansion

West Star Aviation has broken ground on a major expansion of its Maintenance Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facility on East Alton, Illinois’s St. Louis Regional Airport (ALN). Dubbed Hangar 67, subject expansion will add 75,700-square-feet of space to West Star’s ALN operation, boosting the facility’s total size to just over half-a-million square feet of hangar, back shop, and space for aircraft modifications and painting.

NTSB Prelim: Berkut 540

The Pilot Reported This Was The First Flight Of The Experimental Airplane

On July 1, 2023, about 0853 central daylight time, a Berkut 540 airplane, N567JS, was substantially damaged when it was involved in an accident near Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The pilot was not injured. The airplane was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 test flight. The pilot reported this was the first flight of the experimental airplane. After takeoff, the pilot proceeded east of the airport and was cleared to 5,000 ft mean sea level (msl). However, upon reaching 3,400 ft msl, the airplane entered a gradual descent, and the pilot subsequently realized that the engine had lost partial power.

They are designated on aeronautical charts by solid triangles or filed in a flight plan as fixes selected to define direct routes. These points are geographical locations which are defined by navigation aids/fixes. Pilots should discontinue position reporting over compulsory reporting points when informed by ATC that their aircraft is in “radar contact.”
