NBAA Urges Rapid Confirmation Of FAA Nominee Bedford

Senate Hears Testimony, Endorsed By Many Industry Leaders, Groups

The National Business Aviation Association called on the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation to advance the nomination of Bryan Bedford as the next permanent FAA Administrator as quickly as possible. Numerous aviation leaders and groups have expressed their support for Bedford as the right leader the troubled agency needs right now.

Bedford appeared before the committee on June 11, where he answered questions related to his experience, his contentious opinions about the state of the industry, and how he plans to approach the modernization of America’s aviation system.

Ed Bolen, President and CEO of NBAA said, “Bryan Bedford’s organizational leadership, aviation expertise and proven track record of innovation make him an outstanding choice to lead the FAA, especially in this moment, which requires strategic planning and action on the industry’s shared goal of building a brand-new air traffic control system.

“We urge the committee to approve his nomination, and the Senate to swiftly confirm him, so that a permanent leader is in place at the FAA to provide a sharp, consistent focus on the important work ahead.”

Bedford is a pilot holding commercial, multi-engine, and instrument ratings, and earned a Bachelor’s degree in accounting from Florida State University. He has over thirty years of experience in aviation, having served as CEO of Mesaba Airlines and Business Express Airlines prior to taking the helm of Republic Airways for the past 25 years.
