Busted: Pilot Impersonator

Had Fake Uniform And ID

Remember the Steven Spielberg movie, "Catch Me If You Can?" In it, Leonardo DiCaprio plays a con artist pretending to be a pilot as he runs from the law. Perhaps that was the inspiration for a 39-year old man arrested while carrying a Lufthansa pilot's uniform and ID.

"He tried to escape but was captured," said Thomas Schunter, head of the police squad in Luebeck, Germany. "He said he had used the uniform and ID to travel on six overseas flights, and had also stayed in hotels abroad with the crews."

A spokesperson for Lufthansa was a bit skeptical when asked about the story.

"Based on the description it all sounds rather improbable," the spokesperson added.
