Diamond-Aeromot Partnership to Assemble DA62s in Brazil

Chinese-Owned, Austria-Based, Brazil-Built, Universal Appeal

Diamond Aircraft—the Austria-based, Chinese-owned maker of general aviation aircraft with manufacturing facilities in Wiener Neustadt, Austria and London, Ontario, Canada—announced on 25 January 2023 that it had signed an agreement by which Aeromot, the company’s Brazil-based sales partner, will assemble DA62 aircraft in Porto Alegre, Brazil under license from Diamond Aircraft Canada.

Per the licensing agreement, Diamond Aircraft Canada will provide the DA62 kits and ongoing support.

Upon completion, the Brazilian assembled DA62 aircraft will be delivered to Aeromot’s sales territory, which includes Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay, and Uruguay. Collectively, Diamond Aircraft and Aeromot aspire to see production of Brazilian-built DA62 aircraft surpass fifty units per-year.

Diamond Aircraft Canada CEO Kevin Sheng stated: “The global demand for general aviation aircraft is huge. Especially the Brazilian and South American market in general has seen a strong growth and we believe that now is the right time to look for opportunities to expand production and sales in this region. The state-of-the-art luxury twin DA62 with outstanding economics and space is a great fit for the South American market. Since [sic] many years Aeromot is a trusted partner of us [sic] as an authorized dealer in Brazil, having contributed to aircraft sales, technical, and maintenance support for operations in the country. We are convinced that they are the right partner for establishing a DA62 assembly facility in Brazil and will meet our highest standards.”

Aeromot CEO Guilherme Cunha added: “We are very proud to announce this agreement with Diamond Aircraft, strengthening our partnership started back in 2016. The Brazilian market has the key attributes for general aviation growth and the DA62 perfectly fits the user’s needs. This partnership represents an important resumption in the assembly of certified light piston aircraft by Aeromot, contributing to a generation of jobs and strengthening the Brazilian and South American market with innovative solutions.”

Deliveries of Brazilian-assembled DA62 aircraft are expected to commence in 2025.
