NetJets Collaborates with Mayo Clinic

...to Provide Medical Services for Worldwide Travelers

NetJets has collaborated with Mayo Clinic to provide NetJets owners and guests with a wide range of medical-related services if medical emergencies occur when traveling. The services package, known as Mayo Clinic Executive Travel Response, is available effective immediately in the NetJets US fractionally owned aircraft program.

This program, the first of its kind, offers NetJets owners access to medical support from Mayo Clinic while they are on a NetJets aircraft or at their destination anywhere in the world, 24 hours per day. Critical care flight nurses and physicians are a phone call away, offering the security and value of the very best medical assistance for NetJets owners and their traveling companions wherever they may be and at all times.

"This collaborative program with Mayo Clinic is an example of our desire to provide our NetJets owners with the best service in the world," said Richard T. Santulli, chairman and chief executive officer of NetJets. "Our relationship represents a tremendous opportunity for NetJets owners to have 24 hour access to expertise from the world renowned Mayo Clinic. The safety, health and comfort of our owners, passengers and crews are our primary concern."

Mayo Clinic's Aviation History

David W. Claypool, M.D., of Mayo Clinic, medical director for Mayo Clinic Executive Travel Response, reminded us: "Mayo Clinic has a long history in aviation medicine. Mayo Clinic has collaborated with various aviation pioneers, including Charles Lindbergh... We've also provided in-flight medical emergency support for commercial carriers for many years."

A dedicated phone number to health information services has been registered for NetJets owners and will assist them in determining when and where to seek medical attention, 24 hours per day, while at home or traveling domestically or internationally. This is particularly helpful when traveling abroad, since medications differ by country and language barriers can often make receiving the highest quality care difficult. In emergency situations, "Ask Mayo Clinic" coordinates with local hospitals, doctors and other emergency services to ensure NetJets owners receive essential medical care.

All NetJets flight crews have received specific aviation medical emergency training and instruction in the use of special Mayo Clinic-designed emergency medical supplies and kits. These kits, together with descriptive manuals, emergency oxygen, and automatic electronic defibrillators (commonly called AEDs), will be aboard every NetJets aircraft by mid-year.

How it works:

In a medical emergency, NetJets flight crews will contact Mayo Clinic. Mayo Clinic emergency physicians and nurses will provide comprehensive information regarding treatment and possible flight diversion recommendations.  When necessary, Mayo Clinic will help arrange medical assistance utilizing local emergency services that may even meet the plane when it lands.

In the event a NetJets owner needs medically supported air transportation, Mayo Clinic will arrange for a custom aircraft that is fully equipped with all emergency medical equipment and emergency medical personnel.
