New FBO and Instrument Approaches at U.K.’s Leeds East Airport

Bettering the Gateway to the North Yorkshire Moors

The opening of Leeds East Airport (LEA) in Church Fenton, Yorkshire, U.K. will include the debut of a brand new FBO offering a state-of-the-art VIP lounge and accompanying facilities.

Moreover, the airport’s RNP (Required Navigation Performance) Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) has been approved by the U.K.’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA). The procedures will become active and authorized on 10 August 2023. The system improves safety of flight for aircraft arriving LEA, and provides a full instrument GNSS approach to runway 06/24, which sits at an elevation of 25-feet ASL.

Located east of the city of Leeds, the airport and FBO facilitate easy access to the North Yorkshire Moors and the cities of York and Leeds, from which travelers may avail themselves of transportation links to the whole of northern England.

The spacious lounge at the Leeds East Airport FBO is appointed with technological innovations set in luxurious surroundings, and includes facilities conducive to the convening of private business meetings. All told, the FBO delivers quality, efficiency, operational excellence, and a unique customer experience. On-site taxi services are available to passengers and aircrews.

Leeds North airport and the new FBO are suited to the needs of private aircraft charters, business travelers, football charters, corporations, and high-net-worth individuals. The airport’s location affords access to business and leisure destinations throughout the northern U.K. Shooting parties bound for the North Yorkshire Moors will find the airport’s location and facilities particularly appealing.

Speaking to the subject of LEA’s opening, Leeds North Airport owner Chris Makin stated: “Leeds East Airport is now open for business for full IFR traffic. We have spent time and money to ensure that we can offer the finest facilities to operators and customers traveling to the North of England. The newly approved RNP Instrument approach system means that we offer the highest flight safety standards combined with brand new, state of the art FBO facilities. We look forward to offering a warm welcome to operators and passengers arriving and departing from Leeds East Airport.”
