Dimitri Partafyllas Recognized As SC GA Flight Instructor Of The Year

Received The Award Last Week At The South Carolina Aviation Association’s Annual Conference

The FAA has recognized Dimitri Partafyllas, with Stratos Aviation in Greenville, SC, as the South Carolina General Aviation Flight Instructor of the Year. Partafyllas received the award last week at the South Carolina Aviation Association’s Annual Conference in Myrtle Beach, SC.

“In 2019, Dimitri Partafyllas recommended 15 students who passed their practical tests on their first attempt,” stated James “Lanny” Cline, FAA Aviation Safety, FAASTeam Program Manager. “Dimitri’s exemplary flight instructor records are indicative of his unwavering commitment to the highest quality of flight instruction and professionalism,” Cline added.

A pilot candidate can take the FAA practical test as soon as their flight instructor feels that they are ready and writes a recommendation to that effect. The practical test, more commonly known as a checkride, is a FAA examination whereby a pilot candidate flies an aircraft to prove to a Designated Pilot Examiner, who is riding along as their passenger, that they are a competent pilot. The examiner also asks them questions in the form of an oral exam to determine if they understand what they have learned.

“This award is a great honor,” Partafyllas said. “I will continue to strive to exceed my student’s expectations in all factors of flight training.”
