Girl Scouts, FAA Celebrate Women In Aerospace Day

Features Franklin Institute's "Life In Space Show"

The Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) William J. Hughes Technical Center and the Girl Scouts of South Jersey Pines will hold "Women in Aerospace," from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, November 20, at Richard Stockton College of New Jersey, in Galloway Township. The event, primarily geared for girls, ages 11 to 17, will feature special aviation and aerospace programs that aim to spark an interest among girls in the fields of math, science and technology.

The day will feature several exciting activities, including: the Franklin Institute's "Life in Space" show; a "Star Lab" inflatable planetarium; a competition building and launching space shuttle models; and a career panel featuring several top women in aviation, the government and aerospace industries.

Opening keynote speakers will be: Arlene Feldman, FAA Eastern Region administrator, an attorney and pilot who has played a leading role in aviation for many years; and Dr. Deborah Ayars, president, A-Tech Engineering, Inc., and recently selected as a "Woman of the Year" by the Girl Scouts of South Jersey Pines.
