Actor Tyler Perry Earns Pilot Certificate

How Else Does A Celebrity Commute To His Private Island?

After purchasing a remote island getaway in the Bahamas, actor Tyler Perry found himself with a dilemma.

He was afraid to fly, and the only way to get to the island was by boat or seaplane.

Realizing that the boat option would probably take too long for quick getaway trips, Perry determined that the best way to get over his fear of flying so he could enjoy his island was to learn to do it ... so he did. Reports in numerous entertainment media outlets indicate that he recently earned his pilot certificate so that he could fly himself and his friends to the island.

He said it was all a matter of conquering fears. Once that's done, he said, "you're like, 'Oh, what the hell was I afraid of?'"

The entertainment press also reports that Perry loaned his airplane to the family of Whitney Houston to transport the singer's body from LA to New Jersey on the day of her autopsy.
