Newport Bucket Regatta Adds WWII Airshow

Event Will Allow Public Up-Close Access To Planes And Pilots

The Texas Flying Legends Museum says a vintage WWII Airshow has been added to the Newport Bucket Regatta immediately following the races on both Saturday and Sunday, August 27 and 28. The Quonset Air Museum will host the Texas Flying Legends aircraft and pilots for these airshows. The Newport Bucket is a grand sailboat regatta held for the past nine years in Newport.

The Airshow will feature rare WW II vintage aircraft including one of only two Japanese Zeros still flying in the world (Last Samurai), a FG-1D Corsair (Whistling Death), a P-40K (Aleutian Tiger), two P-51D Mustangs (Dakota Kid II & Little Horse) and a Mitchell B-25 Bomber (Betty’s Dream, pictured). The acrobatic aircraft will perform an Airshow off Newport Harbor from 1630 to 1700 both days.

The planes and pilots will also be available to the public from 1200 to 1900 both days of the Airshow at the Quonset Air Museum, 488 Eccleston Avenue, North Kingstown, RI.
