Osprey Makes 'Hard Landing' In Syria

Two Service Members Received Minor Injuries

A U.S. Marine Corps Osprey tiltrotor aircraft made a "hard landing" in Syria on Friday, resulting in minor injuries to two Marines on board.

The Marine Corp Times reports that enemy fire was not indicated in the accident involving the Marine MV-22B aircraft, according to military officials.

Two on board "were evaluated for non-life threatening injuries and quickly transported to a medical treatment facility, where they were seen and released,” the task force in charge of operations in Syria and Iraq announced on Friday. “The other passengers and crew on the aircraft were uninjured, and no other casualties were reported on the ground.”

MSN.com reports that the aircraft is considered to be a total loss, according to an officials. "Something happened in the air causing the aircraft to go down,” the official said. Another official said that it was a "miracle that so few were injured.

The accident is under investigation.
