Master Instructor Program Transitions To Internet-Based Application Process

More Efficient Workflow Yet Rigorous Standards Are Retained

The Master Instructor Continuing Education Program (MICEP) is transitioning to an Internet-based application process. This is one of several key upgrades made to the program as a result of a meeting of the Board of Review in February 2013. Other improvements have included overhauling the Master Instructors LLC website, creating a Facebook page and YouTube channel, and producing a new brochure.

Although the online process offers an improved user experience, applicants must still meet the same standards to earn a MICEP designation. Program Administrator JoAnn Hill commented, "We are really excited about the new system and how it has streamlined our application and review workflows." Hill added, "Not only is the online process more efficient, but it also results in much stronger submissions by applicants compared to the old paper method."

Master Instructors L.L.C. claims its MICEP is a professional approach to a professional accreditation that offers a family of designations for aviation educators based on advanced professional standards and rigorous peer review. The program is open to qualified aviation educators regardless of their other affiliations, is FAA WINGS-approved, and can be used to renew unexpired flight instructor certificates.

Launched in 1997 after two years of research and development, MICEP was the first accreditation program of its kind for aviation educators. In 2009, Master Instructors LLC was formed to administer the program autonomously and to ensure continued impartiality and integrity throughout the designation process.

Master Instructors LLC has set December 1, 2013 as the cutoff for paper applications. Thereafter, all MICEP applications must be submitted using the online system.
