The ultra-long-range Gulfstream G550 has set another city-pair
speed record – this time between Newark, NJ, and Tel Aviv,
Israel. The G550 flew the 5,031-nautical-mile route in 9 hours and
52 minutes, thereby establishing its 15 th city-pair speed record
since it first entered service nearly two years ago.

Airlines Struggle For Answers Amid Rising Costs, Low Fares

A new study of weather-related aviation accidents adopted by the
National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) this week re-affirms
that pilots with higher levels of training and experience are less
likely to be involved in fatal accidents in which weather is a
factor.
A new shipment of supplies is on its way to the International
Space Station. The ISS Progress 19 resupply vehicle lifted off
Thursday from its launch pad at the Baikonur Cosmodrome,
Kazakhstan, at 8:08 a.m. CDT (7:08 p.m. Baikonur time).
NASA has accounted for all civil servants and most contractors
at two facilities impacted by Hurricane Katrina, and the agency is

They Left On A Logistics Mission And Ended Up Rescuing More
Than 100 Civilians
US Navy Lt. David Shand and Lt. Matt Udkow thought they'd done
the right thing. They left NAS Pensacola on a logistics mission --
provide much-needed supplies to military installations along the
hurricane-ravaged Gulf Coast. They ended up rescuing more than 100
civilians stranded by floods. Instead, the New York Times reports,
they were "chided" for deviating from their assigned mission.

Aero-News has learned that the offspring of two air show
performers killed during a performance at Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan
in July have surpassed the tragedy to announce their wedding
engagement.
DOT Reopens Gulfport-Biloxi And Lafayette Regional
Transportation Secretary Norman Y. Mineta Thursday announced
what he said was continued progress in rebuilding the
hurricane-ravaged Gulf Coast's transportation system, including the
return of passenger flights to the area and the arrival of the
first Department of Transportation ship to aid recovery
efforts.
The astronauts who returned the Space Shuttle to flight aboard
Discovery will throw out the ceremonial first pitch at the Houston
Astros' game September 13th.
Chelton Flight Systems has been selected by Bell Helicopter to
provide the glass cockpit system - Chelton's EFIS - for its 407
light single engine helicopter. The contract has a potential value
in excess of US$100m.
They weren't really naughty photos. At worst, her flight

company fired her because it said she posed for "inappropriate
photos."
"I would be looking at a family of two on one roof and maybe a

who to rescue. It wasn't easy."

reprimanded and temporarily reassigned after he helped rescue more
than 100 New Orleans residents stranded by rising floodwaters. He's
back on duty now after the New York Times brought the story to
light.
