King Schools Lends a Helping Hand to CFIs

Instructors Impacted by the AceCFI Closure Offered Course Discounts

King Schools is stepping up to help fill the gap left by the sudden closure of AceCFI, offering impacted CFIs a major discount to its Flight Instructor Refresher Course (FIRC). This comes as the number of CFIs looking to get up to date prepares for a drastic upturn alongside the release of MOSAIC.

AceCFI, an online FIRC service, ceased operations after its FAA authorization expired on September 30, 2025. While the FAA had officially removed AceCFI from its list of approved providers on August 29, few customers received any advance notice.

The company’s website now displays a generic “Under Construction” message, its social media accounts have disappeared, and both its phone and email lines are defunct. Although still listed as active with the Texas Comptroller, the company’s sudden disappearance left many instructors unable to complete renewals or receive refunds for so-called “lifetime” subscriptions.

The timing couldn’t be worse. The rollout of MOSAIC regulations is expected to drive a surge in CFI renewals and training activity, meaning the industry can hardly afford a gap in refresher course access. Many instructors were caught mid-course when AceCFI’s authorization lapsed, leaving them uncertain about their certification status.

King Schools, the iconic ground school provider co-founded by John and Martha King, quickly stepped in to ease the fallout. Instructors affected by the AceCFI closure who hold certificates expiring before February 1 can take King’s FIRC for just $29, which is the same renewal processing fee AceCFI previously charged.

“We feel for the folks who were depending upon and have already paid AceCFI for their FIRC services,” expressed Martha King, Co-Owner and Co-Founder of King Schools. FIRCs can be stressful, and any unexpected change can add to the pressure. We are offering support to those impacted by the closure, and believe we can help them out.”
