Save $5K on a G600

Garmin says Christmas can come WAY early... and in this case, in April. They are a offering a limited time, $5,000 "Spring Special" retrofit rebate on the G600 all-glass avionics system.

This is the largest aviation rebate Garmin has ever offered and will help make it possible for customers to transform their avionics panel from out-dated dials and steam gauges to all-glass. The $5,000 G600 rebate is available from April 21 to June 30, 2009, and may also be combined with an ongoing Garmin incentive program where customers can earn up to an additional $4,000 in rebates off of a G600 package (up to $9,000 in total rebates available).

The G600 is Garmin's all-glass retrofit avionic suite that received FAA certification in July 2008 and is approved for installation on over 785 aircraft makes and models. The G600 received EASA's ETSO approval in April 2009, which makes it eligible for installation in European registered aircraft with a certification weight up to 5,700 kgs.

The G600 combines critical flight data and displays it on two 6.5 inch diagonal flat-panel LCDs. These high resolutions screens are mounted side by side in a single bezel (10"w x 6.7"h) that fits neatly into the "six-pack" slot of an instrument panel (attitude, airspeed, altitude, vertical speed, turn coordinator and directional gyro). They feature brilliant color and advanced backlighting, so pilots can view images in sharper detail - even in direct sunlight.

On the left-hand side, the 6.5 inch PFD seamlessly integrates all situational information regarding the aircraft's position, speed, attitude, vertical rate, altitude, steering and flight progress. The PFD display increases the pilot's attitude indication by over 50 percent over a traditional 3-inch attitude indicator. The system is certified to interface with many general aviation autopilots acting as a navigation source selector and provides GPS roll steering data enabling the autopilot to fly arcs, procedure turns, and holding patterns (if part of the approach). Additional features like altitude pre-select and flight director are available in a select number of autopilots.  

On the right side, the 6.5 inch MFD provides detailed moving-map graphics of the aircraft's current position in relation to ground features, chart data, navaids, flight plan routings and more. The MFD give pilots a clear, concise picture of where they are relative to terrain, airspace, weather, and traffic. Pilots may also select the optional ChartView, an electronic version of Jeppesen's extensive library of charts and airport diagrams.

The G600 is available now at a suggested retail price of $29,995. It includes the GDU 620 display/control unit, GRS 77 AHRS, GDC 74A digital air data computer, GMU 44 tri-axial magnetometer, GTP 59 temp probe, and the required leveling brackets.
