Aero Club Foundation Of Washington Receives Donation From United Airlines

Will Support Foundation's Mission To Foster Interest In Aviation

The Aero Club Foundation of Washington has received a generous donation from United Airlines in support of the Foundation’s mission to foster interest in the principles and development of aviation, aeronautics and the science of aerodynamics at public and charter schools in the District of Columbia.

United Airlines has donated $40,000 in e-certificates to fly DC public and public charter school students for aviation experiences and opportunities they may not otherwise have. Planned events include visiting airline hubs, manufacturing facilities, maintenance and repair stations, attending aviation and aerospace conferences, and touring aviation college and university programs.

“Through United’s generous donation, DC students will now have the opportunity to get up close and personal with aviation and experience all it has to offer first-hand,” said Yvette Rose, president of the Aero Club Foundation of Washington. “We are so thankful to United for giving students the chance to experience such things as sit in the cockpit of an airliner, experience behind-the-scenes airport operations, and meet people just like them who pursued a path in aviation.”

“United Airlines is a strong supporter of initiatives that encourage a passion for aviation in the next generation of leaders, said Sharon Grant, United Airlines, VP of community affairs. “We are excited to partner with The Aero Club Foundation of Washington in its continued efforts to connect youth in Washington, DC to the airline industry.”
