Bombardier Shares Shocking Update: It’s On Time

Global 8000 Business Jet Set to Enter Service in 2025

Business jet manufacturer Bombardier recently shared that, unlike many modern aircraft projects, the Mach 0.94 Global 8000 production is progressing on schedule. It is targeting entry to service later this year.

The Bombardier Global 8000 program debuted at the European Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition (EBACE) in May 2022. It was advertised as the longer-range sister to the Global 7500, able to fly 8,000 nautical miles at a time instead of the previous 7,700.

Range isn’t the Global 8000’s only impressive trait. It has a top speed of Mach 0.94, setting it up to be the fastest civilian aircraft on the market. In fact, it would be the fastest civilian aircraft ever if it weren’t for the Concorde, which had a top speed of Mach 2.04. The Cessna Citation X+ takes the bronze medal, topping out at Mach 0.935.

Beyond performance, the jet features four separate ‘living spaces’ and a private crew rest area. It incorporates several comfort-boosting devices, including circadian-rhythm-adjusted LED systems, large entertainment screens, zero-gravity seating, and a Pur Air system.

“This impressive aircraft will be the fastest and longest-range purpose-built business aircraft ever built, and its rare combination of innovation, performance and comfort will allow our customers to reach new heights in their business aviation experience,” bragged Stephen McCullough, Bombardier’s senior vice president of engineering and product development.

The Global 8000 project has been progressing steadily ever since its unveiling. The first production aircraft is nearing final assembly at Bombardier's Aircraft Assembly Centre in the Greater Toronto Area, Canada. If all continues as planned, it will enter service in 2025.

In the meantime, Bombardier has been conducting missions with its test vehicle from its base in Wichita, Kansas, to Europe. These are intended to show off the jet’s real-world capabilities.

“Bombardier’s Global 8000 possesses outstanding short-field capabilities, with the ability to access smaller airports other aircraft in its category can’t access,” continued McCullough. “This helps make it the clear choice for discerning owners and operators who prioritize convenience and flexibility.”
