Royal Thai AF Buys Two Airbus H225 Helicopters

Multi-Role Helos Enhance SAR And EMS Ops

The Royal Thai Air Force has signed a contract with Airbus to purchase two H225M multi-mission helicopters. These will significantly increase the Air Force’s capabilities for Search and Rescue and Emergency Medical Services operations and augment its commitment to national security and humanitarian support.

The new order grows the RTAF’s fleet of H225M helos to 14. The ones already in service have been operated with distinction since their delivery in 2015. They are deployed across a range of missions including CSAR, general search and rescue, and troop transport.

The RTAF also operates a fleet of H135 military training helicopters under its long-standing relationship with Airbus.

Thai Aviation Industries will perform the completion work on the new H225s through its ongoing partnership with Airbus Helicopters that supports the employment of local expertise with seamless integration.

Air Chief Marshal Punpakdee Pattanakul of the RTAF said, “The H225M has proven to be an indispensable asset to our operations over the past decade, delivering exceptional performance and reliability across diverse and challenging missions. The addition of these two new helicopters, specifically designated for SAR and EMS, will further strengthen our ability to protect and serve the people of Thailand, ensuring we can respond effectively to emergencies wherever they may arise.”

Olivier Michalon, Executive Vice President of Global Business at Airbus Helicopters commented, “We are deeply honoured by the continued trust the Royal Thai Air Force places in our H225 helicopters,” said “This follow-on order is a testament to the H225’s versatility, advanced capabilities, and its critical role in supporting national defence and public service missions. We are proud to continue our strong partnership with the RTAF, ensuring they have the best tools for their vital work.”
