Recognition For Outstanding Dedication And Contributions

The National Aeronautic Association (NAA) has named the recipients of its 2024 Public Benefit Fling Awards.

The NAA and Air Care Alliance, a nationwide association of humanitarian flying organizations, formed a partnership to create the awards, which recognize individuals and organizations who volunteer their time and resources to utilize aviation for humanitarian deeds.

By combining a love of flying and devotion to humankind, these altruistic flights make positive impacts on individuals and communities. The range of missions include transporting patients for medical care, supporting conservation and environmental efforts, and responding to natural disasters and emergencies.

The 2024 recipients are:

• John Jewett, Distinguished Volunteer Pilot. For his selfless giving of his time, talent, and resources by flying nearly 600 missions transporting patients for life-saving medical care as a volunteer pilot with Angel Flight West
• Mercy Medical Angels, Outstanding Achievement. For providing more than 53,000 trips for critical medical care, including 6,300 flights and 47,000 ground transports
• Daniel Cheung, Champion of Public Benefit Flying. For his dedication and unwavering support and advocacy for Angel Flight West

Amy Spowart, NAA President and CEO noted, “Aviation can help save lives and support those in need in ways that no other method of transportation can. When the landscape is in chaos, literally or figuratively, lifting patients above any boundary is critical. The pilots who dedicate their time and talent in this way are heroes, and their selflessness deserves accolades and recognition. We are proud to provide these honors to them.”
