Altair’s FlightStream Sim Platform For Advance Fluid Dynamics Studies

JetZero was in need of a partner with expertise in computational intelligence to advance the development of its blended-wing commercial aircraft, and they found Altair, in Troy, Michigan, to help create improved aerodynamics and a lighter structure to achieve a potential 50% reduction in fuel consumption compared with conventional airliners.

JetZero is taking advantage of Altair’s FlightStream, part of its HyperWorks simulation platform to perform advanced computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations. As a participant in the Altair Aerospace Startup Acceleration Program, JetZero has access to the full suite of Altair’s simulation, data analytics, and AI tools. The company anticipates the first flight  of its full-scale aircraft in 2027.

JetZero’s blended-wing design integrates the wing seamlessly with the fuselage to increase lift and reduce drag. The design promises better fuel efficiency, expanded range, and additional interior space.

The rear-mounted engines will reduce noise during takeoff and landing, and the aircraft’s structure is lighter and quieter than traditional tube-and-wing designs, helping to make it more efficient for both passenger and cargo applications.
