While shooting aerial footage for the Discovery Canada television series "Dangerous Flights," the channel's Director of Photography (DOP) John Driftmier was fatally injured when the plane he was shooting from went down on location. Driftmier was 30 years old.

The program is in its second season. It is a reality-based series that, according to the show's website, focuses on six American pilots who “who risk their lives in the high-danger, no-holds-barred, high-stress business of aircraft delivery."

The accident happened on location in Kenya, according to Deadline London. Discovery Canada and Pixcom, the production company for which Driftmier was working, released few details, other than to say that the plane from which Driftmier was shooting went down, resulting in the fatal injury of both he and the pilot.
