AirVenture 2023 Theater In the Woods Lineup Set to Dazzle

From Korea & Vietnam to Apollo & Artemis

EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2023 will again bring aviation’s notables, luminaries, and icons to the Theater in the Woods stage. A full and dazzling complement of evening programs is set to get underway on 23 July and continue throughout the weeklong celebration of all things aviation and aerospace

2023 marks the 70th iteration, the platinum jubilee, of the Experimental Aircraft Association’s annual fly-in convention—the world’s largest event of its type. As ever, the combination fly-in, air-show, convention, expo, forum, and party will be held at Oshkosh, Wisconsin’s Wittman Regional Airport (OSH). This year’s happening will get underway Monday, 24 July and continue through Sunday 30 July.

EAA AirVenture 2023’s Theater in the Woods lineup comprises a diverse and engaging array of presentations germane to the moon missions of Apollo and Artemis, aviation and flying performances in motion-pictures, and the history of air racing. In addition, a special 24 July evening program will highlight seventy years of AirVenture.

EAA vice-president of communities and member programs Rick Larsen stated: “The evening programs at Theater in the Woods are one of those only-at-Oshkosh traditions that have brought aviation legends, astronauts, entertainers, and many others to AirVenture audiences for more than forty-years. This year’s highlights reach across the spectrum of flight and will entertain and educate regardless of which evening’s program people select to attend at this memorable venue.”

Theater in the Woods’s AirVenture 2023 highlights include:

  • Sunday, 23 July: An Evening with Champions, traditional AirVenture pre-opening program.
  • Monday, 24 July: EAA’s 70th Anniversary, plus NASA – The Next Bold Step, which delves into the space agency’s Apollo and Artemis lunar programs, chronicling the former and offering unique insights into the latter.
  • Tuesday, 25 July: Flying for Hollywood, featuring the film-makers and pilots by whose vision and skill the silver screen’s most memorable flight sequences have been choreographed and captured.
  • Wednesday, 26 July: – WomenVenture night.
  • Thursday, 27 July: The Story of Devotion, an account of the heroic Korean War action by which the feature film Devotion was inspired.
  • Friday, 28 July: Vietnam Remembered: Fifty Years Later, a retrospective of the missions, aircraft, and men of the U.S. Air Force Training Command.
  • Saturday, 29 July: Air Racing.

Theater in the Woods evening programs are included with all AirVenture admissions. Exact guest lists and more information will be released as it is finalized.
