A Swiss SUST report has been released in regards to a 2016 glider crash wherein a DG-800S glider crashed against the Mittaghore Mountains while on a leisure flight. The report cites the pilot's preoccupation with manipulating his cellular phone to film while flying, resulting in an inadvertent collision between the aircraft's right wing and a nearby mountain ridge. The Glider was towed into flight from Saanen Airfield on July 6, 2016, where the pilot released the cable to fly along the ridge of Sanetschsee and its pass. CAAC Okays Changes, But Service May Only Resume With New Training, Procedures

China's aviation regulatory body took the first step towards allowing the operation of Boeing's 737 MAX, breaking a three-year-long grounding streak. The Civil Aviation Administration of China has approved the changes made to address perceived shortcomings on the MAX, and said that commercial operations of existing 737 MAX aircraft would be allowed sometime in the coming months. The spokesman hinted at the possibility that domestic airlines may also be allowed to resume their purchases of the aircraft, great news for Boeing's books. 

French Satellite Launch Specialist To Build Domestic Reusable Launch System

French Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire recently voiced plans for local space services purveyor ArianeGroup to compete with businesses in the U.S. by developing a series of reusable launch systems. "For the first time Europe...will have access to a reusable launcher. In other words, we will have our SpaceX, we will have our Falcon 9. We will make up for a bad strategic choice made 10 years ago," Le Maire said during a trip to their Normandy factory. The area builds their current single-use rocket systems used in satellite delivery.

Airplane Began To Roll Left Unless (Pilot) Continuously Held About 3/4 Right Aileron Input

On November 15, 2021, about 1730 eastern standard time, a Piper PA-22-160, N3463Z, was substantially damaged when it was involved in an accident near West Union, Ohio. The student pilot was uninjured. The airplane was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Part 91 instructional flight. The student pilot reported that he was on a solo cross-country flight in furtherance of his private pilot certificate. The student pilot stated that after a descent from 5,500 ft to 2,500 ft, the airplane began to roll left unless he continuously held about 3/4 right aileron input. The use of rudder did not null the left roll tendency.

AD 2021-24-13 Requires Modifying Certain Dump Switches

The FAA is adopting a new airworthiness directive (AD) for certain Daher Aerospace (type certificate previously held by SOCATA) Model TBM 700 airplanes. This AD was prompted by mandatory continuing airworthiness information (MCAI) originated by an aviation authority of another country to identify and correct an unsafe condition on an aviation product. The MCAI describes the unsafe condition as a non-conforming dump switch ejecting from its slot. This AD requires modifying certain dump switches. The FAA is issuing this AD to address the unsafe condition on these products. This AD is effective January 12, 2022.
