B/K Uses A Clean-Sheet-Of Paper Approach To Develop AeroVue
At EAA AirVenture 2014, ANN News Editor Tom Patton linked up with Honeywell Flight Operations test pilot, Kevin O’Hara. Patton asked for an overview of the new BendixKing AeroVue glass panel system being test flown in a King Air. As O’Hara provides the details, you’ll see video of the system in action.
O’Hara tells Tom that the AeroVue Integrated Flight Deck is designed with the higher-end corporate Jets in mind. It’s a 3 panel display that includes a unique feature of being able to select views and functions with a hand controller (something like a trackball) mounted in the center console. You’ll see in the video that this allows a pilot to select functions and views without the need to lift a hand to touch the function controls on the displays.
Also included in the AeroVue system is the AeroWave connectivity package which allows the system to communicate through an Internet or Bluetooth connection. This allows the crew to always be in touch and in communication.
The AeroVue is a new system that is in its final development stage. O’Hara says they’re expecting it to be available for delivery in the first quarter of next year. This video will keep you in touch with the high-end world of avionics.
