AV Delivers P550 Group 2 UASs For Army LRR

Autonomous eVTOL’s Rapid Deployment Enhances Battlefield Adaptability

AeroVironment, developer of multi-domain intelligent robotic systems, announced the delivery of its P550 Group 2 small UAS (sUAS) to the U.S. Army for its Long-Range Reconnaissance program to support training and operations for the Army’s Transformation in Contact brigades initiative.

This delivery consists of multiple P550 systems with new equipment training and training of master trainers to ensure mission readiness and its rapid integration into Army brigades and other units.

This is a significant achievement for the AV’s all-new P550 product line as well as the Army. The P550 is purpose-built from the ground up with Modular Open System Approach (MOSA) and designed to meet evolving needs of the warfighter, enable rapid deployment and adaptation in dynamic, contested environments, and be capable of multiple payload, radio, and power options to counter threats in real-time.

The P550 line is an evolution of AV’s development of UASs and production of combat-proven systems delivered to both the U.S. DoD and more than 50 partner countries.

Trace Stevenson, President of Autonomous Systems for AV said, “We are proud to deliver the P550 to Army units, empowering warfighters with a system that can quickly adapt to fluid combat scenarios, providing unmatched reliability and flexibility. Our team remains committed to supporting the Army with seamless delivery, training, and sustainment to ensure these systems are ready when needed.”

The  P550 is AV’s newest Group 2 (21-55 lb GTOW) eVTOL system that is rapidly deployed and provides advanced situational awareness. It can carry up to a 15 lb payload and has an endurance of up to 5 hours on all-battery power. It can be reconfigured in under 5 minutes with no tools necessary, including hot-swapping of payloads and batteries.
