Cirrus Receives Canadian STC For SR22 Turbo

Canucks Can Now Fly Faster, Too

Cirrus Design Corporation told ANN Wednesday the Cirrus SR22 Turbo has received its Supplemental Type-Certificate (STC) from Transport Canada Air Certification.

"The Turbo SR22 has been extremely well received in the US and has been selling at a very brisk pace," said Cirrus Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing John M. Bingham. "Now our customers to the North will have access to a C-registered turbo as well."

Bingham noted the Turbo, with its ability to fly at altitudes up to 25,000' MSL, is well-suited for the Canadian landscape.

"Cirrus is making great strides in our Canadian sales. The SR22 Turbo will undoubtedly increase the number of first-time Cirrus buyers as well as providing an excellent step-up opportunity to our growing group of Canadian owners," Bingham said.

As reported by ANN, Cirrus announced the Tornado Alley turbo-normalized SR22 at Airventure 2006. The company received the FAA STC in November of 2006. Due to the high demand for the product, Cirrus has incorporated the installation of the "kit" into its production line (below).

According to COO and President David Coleal, "We knew the product would be popular, because we were simply responding to our customers' demands. But the response went well beyond our expectations. In the interest of satisfying the customers in a timely manner, we elected to do the installations here on our own line."

Cirrus is a recognized global leader in the manufacturing of personal aviation aircraft that provide unprecedented levels of performance, quality and safety. The popular SR20 and SR22 composite airplanes incorporate innovative advanced technologies into their design, including the unique Cirrus Airframe Parachute System (CAPS).

Cirrus has a direct sales force in North America with sales centers across South America, Europe, China, Australasia, South Africa, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Russia.
