Socata Ends TBM 850 Tour At AOPA Expo 2008

2008 Demo Tour Concludes In San Jose This Week

Socata culminated its 2008 demonstration tour for its TBM 850 turboprop with a graceful finish at the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association's 2008 Meeting & Convention in San Jose, CA.

"At the forward-looking AOPA Expo 2008, we are pleased to bring our own view of the future -- the latest edition of our TBM 850, which is equipped with the all-glass Garmin G1000 integrated flight deck, an updated cabin design and its innovative global air system," said Nicolas Chabbert, President of EADS Socata North America. "This also is the occasion to warmly welcome the AOPA's new president, Craig L. Fuller, and to offer a special salute to its retiring leader, Phil Boyer, who has been so instrumental in the association's development worldwide."

Chabbert noted that in 1998, Socata assisted Boyer with his first experience in flying solo from Paris to Agen, France to visit relatives, and to see first-hand the need to defend general aviation around the globe.

Socata bills the TBM 850 as world's fastest single turboprop aircraft, with a maximum cruising speed of 320 KTAS at Flight Level 260 (in ISA conditions). To date, 204 TBM 850s have been sold and 134 delivered.
