NATA: Lott's Chairmanship Of Senate AvPanel 'Welcomed'

NATA President James K. Coyne warmly welcomed Senator Trent Lott (R-MS, pictured right) as the new chairman of the Senate's Subcommittee on Aviation for the recently convened 108th Congress.

Lott, a frequent user of general aviation, will assume the panel's top position as soon as the Senate officially re-organizes its committee structure this week.

"The association is quite pleased with the selection of Senator Lott to head the Senate's Subcommittee on Aviation," Coyne stated.

"NATA has a very good relationship with the Senator and looks forward to continuing this association as he takes command of this very important and pivotal panel."

Senator John D. Rockefeller (D-WV), who was chair of the Subcommittee in the 107th Congress, will now assume the Ranking Minority Member's position. "We look forward to welcoming Senator Lott as the new chair and continuing our work with Senator Rockefeller in the 108th Congress," Coyne concluded.

"The aviation industry is quite fortunate to have such knowledgeable and influential members of Congress leading this panel."
