First Lift Hexa Completed

Qarbon Aerospace Delivers Initial Production Model

Qarbon Aerospace has shipped the first complete HEXA eVTOL, built under a partnership with designer LIFT Aircraft.

Qarbon is a manufacturer of composite components and assemblies, boasting more than 1.65 million square feet of factory space to complete large manufacturing jobs. LIFT is based in Austin, Texas, designing and developing their single-seat eVTOL aircraft, the Hexa, but lacking the necessary outlay to produce the 432-lb. carbon fiber frame in-house. Their work with Qarbon, specifically the Thailand location, has enabled them to bring their project to fruition far smoother and faster than they would have been able to all on their own.

Their expertise in creating the complex frame and fuselage for the Hexa was vital in creating the hexagonal interconnected tubing that houses all 18 of its rotors. The Hexa's landing system are floats, enabling a touchdown on land or water, with the centerpoint float filled with energy-absorbing foam to dissipate the force of an accident should one see a hard landing.

Lift is excited about the development of their aircraft, seeing a plethora of public safety uses and personal transportation missions on the horizon. “Flying is probably the oldest and most enduring of human aspirations," said Lift CEO Matt Chasen. "Personal aviation is available today but it’s only accessible to the lucky few with the money, time and skill to get the extensive training needed to fly traditional aircraft. At LIFT, we’re making flying so simple, safe and inexpensive that anyone can do it with very little skill or special training. We’re truly consumerizing flying for the first time in history.”
