Becomes Largest Bell HEMS Operator In Europe

Bell Textron announced during the European Rotors 2025 Conference that Slovakia-based HEMS operator Air Transport Europe, signed an agreement to acquire its fifth HEMS-configured Bell 429. This purchase places Air Transport Europe as the largest Bell helicopter operator in the HEMS segment in Europe.

Air Transport Europe has completed over 33,690 HEMS missions since 1991, and specializes in operations in remote locations. The company is headquartered in Poprad, near the High Tatra Mountains in northern Slovakia. Air Transport Europe has expanded operations to seven bases throughout the country plus two locations in the neighboring Czech Republic.

The new aircraft will be customized to meet our exact medical and operational needs, ensuring optimal functionality for patient care and mission efficiency.”

The Bell 429 is designed and built for rapid response with a cruise speed of 150 kts, enabling Air Transport Europe to arrive on scene for urgent calls or interfacility transport within minutes.
