AD: Airbus Airplanes

AD NUMBER: 2017-13-12

PRODUCT: All Airbus Model A318 and A319 series airplanes; Model A320-211, -212, -214, -231, -232, and -233 airplanes; and Model A321-111, -112, -131, -211, -212, -213, -231, and -232 airplanes.

ACTION: Final Rule.

SUMMARY: This AD was prompted by an evaluation by the design approval holder (DAH), which indicates that the main landing gear (MLG) does not comply with certification specifications, which could result in a locking failure of the MLG side stay.

This AD requires modification or replacement of certain MLG side stay assemblies.

The FAA estimates that this AD affects 959 airplanes of U.S. registry. The cost of parts and labor are estimated to be $14,869 per aircraft, for a total cost of compliance to U.S. operators of $14,259,371.

DATES: This AD is effective August 9, 2017.
