UTC Aerospace Systems Completes First Set Of Electric Systems For C919

Initial Unit To Be Used For Laboratory Testing

The first set of electric systems for COMAC's new C919 jetliner have been produced by Xi'an AVIC Hamilton Sundstrand Aviation Electric Co., Ltd. (AUAE), a joint venture of UTC Aerospace Systems (through Hamilton Sundstrand Holdings, Inc.) and AVIC Shaanxi Aero Electric Co., Ltd. The system is scheduled for delivery in November.

"We're excited to share with the industry that the first hardware set of electric power system panels, for use in laboratory testing, has been produced for COMAC's C919 jetliner," said Tim White, president, Electric Systems, UTC Aerospace Systems. "AUAE is delivering quality systems, and we are fully committed to supporting the success of the C919 program."

AUAE is an AS9100C-certified facility that is also manufacturing and delivering power distribution components to UTC Aerospace Systems for other international commercial programs.

AUAE is a 50-50 joint venture established to develop and manufacture electric power systems for COMAC's C919 as well as supply UTC Aerospace Systems equipment for the international market. AUAE opened its new facility in April 2014.

"We are proud that we started production smoothly and look forward to shipping the first C919 components to support the first flight of the C919, the largest commercial jetliner to be designed and built in China," said Yang Hongqi, president, AVIC SAEC and chairman of the joint venture.
