EAA to Host Inaugural Learn to Fly Week

Event to Run 15 Through 20 May 2023

By virtue of the Experimental Aircraft Association’s (EAA) Learn to Fly Week and the webinars and informational gems it comprises, aspiring aviators will be afforded excellent and ample opportunity to discover and explore the myriad pathways by which pilot credentials may be earned.

Spanning the week of 15 through 20 May 2023, EAA’s Learn to Fly Week will address the entirety of the didactic and practical aspects of the pilot certification process. All sessions will be free of charge to all participants and include access to archived video recordings available to EAA members. Online pre-registration is, however, required.

A full schedule of topics and presenters will be made public in the coming weeks.

EAA Eagles Program Manager David Leiting remarked: “Becoming a pilot is a dream for many, but few know where to start their journey. Learn to Fly Week was created to help encourage aspiring pilots to take action and begin the pilot training process. Our goal is to show attendees how accessible achieving their dream actually is.”

Learn to Fly Week’s 20 May conclusion will entail a series of  Flying Start events hosted by EAA chapters across the country. By virtue of the Flying Start program, EAA chapters welcome and encourage nascent aviators and teach them about the fun, freedom, and accessibility of pilot training in their local areas. Following a (20 May) short presentation about learning to fly, attendees will be offered a free introductory Eagle Flight by which they may experience the spirit of aviation firsthand.

Learn to Fly Week is, in part, presented by Sporty’s Pilot Shop, which will participate in multiple webinars throughout the event, and offer product discounts to boot.
