Purdue University Phenom FTD Installed

Meets FAA Level 6 Training Device Requirement

Purdue University in West Lafayette, IN, has taken delivery of a Frasca-built Embraer Phenom Flight Training Device (FTD). The FTD is designed to meet FAA Level 6 flight training device requirements and is equipped with actual Garmin Prodigy as found in the aircraft. A high fidelity digital sound system (TruSound), TruFeel control loading, auto-testing, Graphical Instructor Statin (GISt) and Frasca’s visual system (TruVision) with 220° display system are included. The FTD has been installed in the Holleman-Niswonger Simulator Laboratory at Purdue and will be used in their professional pilot training program along with several previously installed Frasca devices.

“With the addition of the Frasca Phenom FTD, Purdue is poised to deliver a preeminent collegiate aviation program designed to offer jet type ratings to qualified students. This combination of an Embraer Phenom aircraft and a certified Frasca Phenom FTD provides a powerful combination of capabilities that bodes well for the future.” Says Mike Suckow, Associate Department Head, Academic Programs and Air Operations, Purdue University.

“Frasca is proud to be the provider for Purdue University’s simulators. With the installation of the Phenom FTD, they have shown their commitment to training their pilots on the latest aircraft models. By selecting Frasca, they will have an FTD which provides excellent transfer of training and unmatched customer service.” Stated John Frasca, VP, Frasca International.” Purdue was one of our first collegiate customers and we have had a great relationship with them since, said Rudy Frasca, Founder and President.

Frasca has also delivered two Phenom Synthetic Training Devices (STDs) to the Finnish Aviation Academy training facility in Pori, Finland. Both devices have been qualified JAR FSTD Level 2 and FNPT II MCC and include a 220° visual system, TruVision Global.
