AERO 2010 Hopes To Set Trends In GA

Over 200 Exhibiting Companies Have Already Registered For German Show

AERO 2010 Project Manager Thomas Grunewald returned to Germany from the 2009 AOPA Aviation Summit declaring "AERO is now an internationally established brand." Grunewald reported that, during numerous discussions with customers in Tampa, he encountered a great deal of interest in the medium- and long-term development of Europe's GA industry. Grunewald says AERO, which will take place in Friedrichshafen from April 8 to 11 next year, is playing a growing role in the marketing plans of US general aviation companies.

The news, for example, that the organizers of AERO and Sun 'n Fun had coordinated their trade show dates was very well received by the industry. This development will allow far more companies to participate in both trade show events. Meanwhile, for more and more European aviation companies, AERO has become their most important general aviation platform. "We're very gratified by the strong endorsement many exhibiting companies have given us by returning this year, but also by the appearance of new exhibitors. Particularly in light of current economic circumstances, it's now more important than ever to stay focused," Thomas Grunewald remarked. More than 200 exhibitors, including industry-leading companies, have already booked their booths in Friedrichshafen

"This positive intermediate number is a positive indication in terms of our further preparations in the coming months," notes Grunewald. After initial skepticism expressed by some companies, particularly in the microlight field, a more positive mood is now evident.

AERO will become an annual event beginning in 2010. This is a strategic decision, which in light of intensive discussions with domestic and international customers in recent weeks, has proven to correct and essential. "With the approval of this concept by about 60 percent of exhibitors in 2007, we already had a sound basis to make this decision. In the meantime, support has grown dramatically. Based on current data, we're anticipating between 350 and 400 exhibitors next year, and a greater proportion of international participants," says the AERO project director. Key topics such as e-flight, the Helicopter Hangar, business aviation, microlights and light sport aircraft will be continuously expanded. Over the long term, many industry representatives are convinced that holding AERO on an annual basis will contribute to its constant development.
