MTV-16 4-Blade Prop Gets Nod, FAA STC In Progress

MT-Propeller announced it received the European Union Aviation Safety Agency STC for the installation of its 4-blade MTV-16-1-C-F/CF225-37a propeller on Cessna 404/406 Titan aircraft powered by two Teledyne Continental GTSIO-520-M engines.

MT-Propeller’s application for the FAA STC is in progress.

The MT-Propeller natural composite blades yield significant noise reduction both inside and outside the aircraft. There is no lifetime limitation and are repairable in the event of a FOD incident.

The MTV-16 prop also provides improved vibration damping for almost vibration-free propeller operation with bonded on lickel alloy leading edges for excellent erosion protection of the blades.

According to Martin Albrecht, Vice President of MT-Propeller, the installation provides the following advantages:

• Enhanced takeoff distance by approximately 5%
• Enhanced climb performance by approximately 3%
• Cruise performance increased by 3-4 kts
• Approximately 4 lb lighter than original props
• Interior noise reduced by 3-4 dB(A)
