GE Aerospace Investing $75M In Asia Pacific

Funding Expansion And Upgrades At MRO Facilities To Increase Capacity

GE Aerospace announced a major investment of $75 million to upgrade and expand its MRO and component repair facilities in the Asia Pacific region through the end of this year. The investment will support the fleets of customers by increasing capacity, improving turnaround times, and driving innovations in MRO in the region.

The announcement was made as part of the “Advancing MRO for a Resilient Aerospace Industry in the Asia-Pacific” event in Singapore hosted by The Business Times. The investment is also part of the company’s multi-year, global $1 billion MRO spending plan announced in 2024.

The company’s goal is to ensure MRO facilities have the capacity to be able to meet the robust demand for services in APAC’s growing aviation sector for the installed base of both GE Aerospace and CFM International, a joint venture between GE Aerospace and Safran Aircraft Engines.

Farah Borges, Vice President of Assembly, Test, Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul for GE Aerospace said, “Aviation activity is really booming across APAC today, with sustained growth driving demand for advanced MRO capabilities and next-generation aviation technology. Our expansion plans aim to address this demand and deliver improved performance for our customers, reaffirming our commitment to powering and optimizing their flight ambitions.”

The money will be used to fund more engine test cells, new equipment, and cutting-edge technology that includes AI-enabled inspection techniques. The enhancements will reduce turnaround times for customers and expand component repair capabilities within GE Aerospace’s MRO facilities.

In Singapore, the investment will remake GE Aerospace’s site in Seletar Aerospace Park into a state-of-the-art repair technology research facility. The implementation of new technologies is already underway and should be complete in 2026.

In Malaysia, the investment will support expansion for MRO work on CFM56 and CFM LEAP engines, doubling capacity at the LEAP engine MRO facility within the next three years.

The GE Aerospace On Wing Support facility in South Korea will also receive funding to upgrade technologies and capabilities/
