A Whump, Whump, Whump in the Night
REB Technologies Inc. of Bedford, Texas—colloquially REBTECH—announced on 06 March 2023 that it had completed a Night-Vision (NVIS) STC modification of a Robinson R-44 helicopter operated by Southern Utah University (SUU).
The augmentation occasions the sixth instance in which REBTECH has modified an SUU R-44 for Night-Vision Goggle (NVG) flight. The rotorcraft are utilized by the school’s flight-training academy in Cedar City, Utah.
Formerly, REBTECH completed a Night-Vision retrofit on a Bell 206 L-4 belonging to SUU.
REBTECH president Richard Borkowski stated: “We have enjoyed a long and successful relationship with SUU and really enjoy working with them and modifying their fleet. Their staff is always prepared for our technicians to get to the hanger and are extremely knowledgeable and helpful during the installation process. REBTECH is proud to be a partner with SUU flight academy.”
Richard Cannon of Southern Utah University’s Department of Aerospace Sciences & Technologies echoed Mr. Borkowski’s sentiments, stating: “Southern Utah University has exclusively used REB Technologies for all of our helicopter NVG conversions. We continue to use them because of their exceptional workmanship, timely installation, and excellent customer service. All our installations have been planned to fit around our maintenance cycles. Typically, REB comes to our facility and installs the NVG conversions while the aircraft is already down for other inspections. This minimizes the overall downtime. We will continue to use REB for all of our future NVG needs.”
REBTECH is recognized for its provision and installations of advanced military and civil night vision aircraft lighting systems. Based in Bedford, Texas, the company has amassed extensive experience developing night vision lighting systems for aircraft cockpits, cabins, crew stations, and exteriors. REB Technologies has over thirty FAA and EASA approved Supplemental Type Certificates (STC) and has performed lighting modifications and installations for military and civil operators in Africa, Europe, Asia, Australia, South, Central, and North America.
