AgustaWestland Receives New Order For The AW169 In Australia

Undisclosed Customer Orders Aircraft In VIP Transport Configuration

An undisclosed customer in Australia has signed an order with AgustaWestland for a VIP-transport configured AW169 light intermediate helicopter. The contract was signed with an undisclosed customer during the opening day at the Avalon Airshow on February 26th.  This order brings to four the number of popular Australian businessmen selecting the new generation AW169 twin engine helicopter to meet their VIP transport requirement. This latest helicopter will perform its missions in New South Wales.

Emilio Dalmasso, Senior Vice President Commercial Business Unit, AgustaWestland said “This latest achievement testifies once more how popular the all new AW169 has become among VIP customers in Australia. We are proud to provide our contribution to the future success of this latest leading customer supporting his VIP transport needs with a product which represents a significant step forward compared to anything today offered to the market in its category in terms of performance, flight and mission technology, comfort and cabin space, safety standard and ease of maintenance/reduced operating costs."

This order further expands the success of this all new model in Australasia, where the type has already been chosen by various operators particularly for VIP/corporate and emergency medical service missions, and continues the growing success of the AW169 in the global market. A total of over 70 AW169s have already been purchased by more than 30 customers in over 10 countries worldwide to perform a range of roles. The programme development is on schedule with all four prototypes now in flight and certification is expected in 2014.
